     war versus hope

In peace, children inter their parents; war violates the order of nature and causes parents to inter their children.

Spoken over 2,000 years ago by the historian Herodotus (484 BC – 430 BC), this observation is still painfully true today. I created these paintings during the war in Syria c. 2012-2018.  As an artist, it was impossible to be a silent bystander. Here are some pieces that are a meditation on what I have witnessed emanating from this brutal war.

If you purchase one of the paintings in this gallery, I WILL DONATE 10% OF THE PURCHASE PRICE to Doctors without Borders, for its life-saving work with Syrian refugees.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
—Martin Luther King Jr.
